Standard? Compared to what? The earlier Supra models employed the
non-parallel approach. I considered it to be an excellent feature.

Radio Shack sells "privacy devices" that can help elliminate the problem when
a remote extension is lifted. I am not sure how effective they really are.

Most sysops here probably know that. But when I operated a single line BBS,
and needed to use the line to make a voice call, it was nice *not* to be
interrupted my the modem/mailer activities when the program attempted to make
a call.
