Hello Paul!

On 20 Apr 94, you said to Geoff Armstrong:

GA>>>> Yes, this modem has MNP2-5.

PE>>> So why don't you switch on MNP4? BFN.

GA>> Done. I tried to ring voice, and the modem locked on (locked to
GA>> 19200) and

PE> Ring voice to who? What are you talking about?

Sorry, yes, I rang as a bbs user. My old boss used to call this "call
voice." I really don't know why. A bit silly I agree.

GA>> I got CONNECT RELIABLE COMPRESSION as my connect string. (I
GA>> forgot my password so I didn't try a file xfer... I found it
GA>> after I hung up)

PE> You mean you tried logging on as a BBS user?

Yup.

GA>> I'll send this mail bundle with me watching to see if anything
GA>> odd(er) happens.

Everything went Ok, and I got 1010 CPS instead of 920 like I used to. Not a
big deal, but an improvment, anyway.

PE> Ok, but you've switched on MNP5. Can you switch of MNP5, but leave
PE> MNP4 on? Also lock at 19200. BFN.

Locked at 19200, done. Also, why disable MNP5? It can be done, according to
the manual, but why?

Sea Ewes are round!
Geoff.
