Hello Paul! On 10 Apr 94, you said to Geoff Armstrong: PE> ................................................... Is your free PE> lunch in danger? BFN. It's looking more and more like it. But the scrapheap option has been abolished. Telecom were going to abolish EVERY position, and everybody would have had to apply for a promotion, for their old job, or another job. If you didn't get one of these, is was DCM. Now, from a purely analytical management position, it is good. The dead wood is removed, those who did a good job got promoted, those who wanted a different job shifted. Perfect. But in a real world sense, it is different. Trouble with the boss? Out you go. Disagreement with management? No promotion. Working in a highly sought after area (me), watch your back. etc. etc. Now Telecom have agreed to transfer all positions over to the new structure. Those who want reduncancy can go. Those who want to stay, stay. We (the union) get to vote on all this on April 20. Although Telecom has said "either way, we'll do it." So, if we vote it down, it'll be "man the trenches" time. Remember 1978 and 1980? Sea Ewes are round! Geoff. --- FMail 0.92* Origin: My Point Entirely!
