I suppose in the interest of something approaching balance I should relate
the other Canadian cop story I was recently told by a friend at work about
a woman he knew:

An unmarked Toronto police cruiser attempted to pull over a single woman on
a busy local highway. Now while most "unmarked" cars are pretty
obvious, it seems to me, apparently this one wasn't and/or the officer was
undercover. The woman driver panicked / feared for her safety and a high
speed chase ensued which ended when she pulled into the local cop shop at
high speed, and ran into the building pleading for assistance.

Apparently the cop's superiors were completely pissed, this was a violation
of both comman sense and standard procedures and regulations ... it
wouldn't have taken more than 5 minutes for a marked cruiser to have been
summoned to pull her over ... apparently apologies were profuse and
punishment of the officer was significant.
