Hi Al. About 20 years ago, a friend of mine had an idea. He suggested that
BEP programs approach large cafeteria and restaurant chains to develop
partnerships that would result in the training and employment of blind
persons as cafeteria and restaurant managers. He was a vendor, and felt
that in spite of what the BEP programs say, vendors, in practice, are
managers. I always felt that his plan was a good one, and I feel that
something like this is the only long term hope for the Randolph Shepherd
program. I agree with you that contracting with these fast food chains is
the wave of the future, and we should jump on it and ride it for what it
is worth.
