yes, as a matter of fact, you can, for example, if you wanted to delete 
5 lines and your cursor is now sitting on the first line you could do:
ALT-L 
cursor down 4 more lines
ALT-G

the online help IS sparse, i think that is intentional, Qedit is 
SUPPOSED to be 'mean & lean'!
