The last Dell I bought (2400n) was from the business line.  Came
w/FreeDOS and the price was right.  All the on board stuff worked
fine for eCS v1.2 except the audio.  I didn't spend much time on it
since I don't need that functionality on that computer at this
moment.

As far as Dell being "BRAND name proprietary junk", one man's junk
is another's treasure....  If you don't have time to buy the parts
and get it all working together then it is a viable option (my main
computer, this one, is a 'white box' I pieced together but it took
2 mo's to get all the stuff I wanted).  The Dell was  $400 for a
2.4GHz machine w/ 512MB ram, 80GB HD (no monitor).  I figured if
something didn't work it would be a reasonable tradeoff and
probably cheaper than 13 scsi drives ;)
