Hi Kathy and conures,
-> Welcome back--I was wondering the other day where you'd gone to!
Nice to know Nigel and Zigs and I were missed. :*) Good to be back at
the computer, birds preening beside me.
-> Jan, this is scary. Did the article happen to mention what bacteria
-> or disease this is that's causing this problem?
It just said that it's bacterial, and that it's rampant among EASTERN
house finches. I think it's interesting that the only the eastern,
inbred population is affected. I'm not going to set up bird feeders
this winter. I will probably scatter seeds in out of the way places for
the birds when it gets very cold though. Don't want to chance exposing
my birds to such an awful disease. I feel so sorry for the finches who
are dying such sad and prolonged deaths. I have a special feeling for
finches, you know. :*)
