I agree. There may well be a physical reason (in the brain) for some
people's problems with spelling (this is just speculation on my part), and
in some cases poor spelling might not have much relevance to anything.

As a rule, however, Mitchell's point is that I would generally be better
off if I read documents from people who can spell, because they are likely
to at least have done a lot of reading themselves. I don't much care if the
author can't spell, but often I do care if they are more generally
illiterate.
