We are talking abaut exactly this type of TP43, a TP43-2669-44G:

Now, if you go to the general TP43/TP43p pages, you'll see there there
are lots of different TP43, and differences between one type TP43 and
another might be greater than the difference between a Fujitsu and a Dell.

Now, what were the VERY BIG problems with this one, in a nutshell:

1. It only accepts it's specific type of 40 Gig disk, otherwise at boot
you'll get an error message and need to hit enter to continue. Meaning,
within 5 years from know you won't even be able to purchase a suitable
replacement HD.
2. I was rather astonished to see _ALL_ pci devices default to irq 11.
Yes, looks unbelievable, but it that's what it is.
3. With all PCI set to irq 11, no way to install eCS of course.
4. After messing around with the irq, I managed to install eCS 1.2
But:
- most of my USB didn't work, as there is no harware compability to USB
1.x apparently
- THE pcmcia didn't work. Incidentally, there are 2 slots but one has
been disabled physically.
- wireless didn't work (however with the latest genmac it would do now)

Anyway, being stuck for ever with a 40 Gig HD was unacceptable to me, so
I decided to take the TP41 back and gave to TP43 to the friend.

AND NOW COMES THE REAL ISSUE:

I wiped out eCS (the original 40 Gig had been reformatted in order to
install eCS12) and tried to reinstall Windy XP.
No way to install Windy XP, install aborted each time even before the
real start.

Got an enlightment, and set the bios back to it's default, meaning all
PCI to IRQ 11. And yes, then Windy installed as a breeze.

Bottom line: this type of TP43 isn't suitable for eCS, and I have no
doubts it will be same for almost every TP coming from Lenovo in the
near future.

Hope for you you've acquiered a different TP43.
