An interesting, if somewhat heretical, POV!

I once worked with a guy who was quite competent but an atrocious speller
(come to think of it, there may have been more than one). This
never bothered me, and I started sliding towards the "spelling and
grammar don't matter" school - it's the meaning that counts.

Then I read Richard Mitchell of the Underground Grammarian. He made the
point that people normally pick up good spelling from lots of READING. Why
are you reading a misspelt document if there is a good chance that the
author hasn't done much reading themselves!?
