 JdBP> Watcom C++ 10.6 for Intel OS/2

I have been advised privately by Watcom that v11.0 will begin shipping the
week of February 24. Upgrade price from earlier versions will be US$129
until March 31, US$149 after; competitive upgrade will be US$199; outright
purchase will be US$350.

 JdBP> No Internet address (watcom.on.ca has been discontinued).
 JdBP> Minimal support is available from PowerSoft (who now own the
 JdBP> company).

This is completely wrong. Watcom will still answer sales inquiries to
either "sales{at}watcom.on.ca" or "sales{at}watcom.com" --
both of which go to the same place. Watcom C++ has its own web page at
Powersoft, which fully support it:

   http://www.powersoft.com/products/languages/watccpl.html

Technical support, patches, and related issues are found at:

   http://www.powersoft.com/services/support/c_cpp/

Major improvements in v11.0 of interest to OS/2 programmers include:

   New! Improved C++ language support including namespaces and RTTI
   Watcom C/C++ now supports namespaces and Run-Time Type Identification
   (RTTI), providing a new level of comprehensive and consistent C++
   language implementation on all supported platforms. Other new C++
   language features include the mutable keyword, bool type, explicit
   attribute, and C++ cast notation.

   New! Support for Intel MMX technology
   With support for the new Intel MMX technology, Watcom C/C++ 11.0
   allows you to take advantage of the latest architecture advances and
   enhance the performance of your multimedia and communications
   applications. You can develop lightning-fast applications that not
   only exploit the capabilities of the MMX instruction set, but also
   leverage the industry-leading optimization technology of Watcom C/C++.
   Plus, you get complete debugging support including the ability to
   single-step through your MMX instructions and view MMX registers in a
   separate window. And the functional interface from C/C++ makes it easy
   to generate in-line MMX instructions.

Win32 MFC is also brought to v4.1, for those doing Windows (or Open32).
