Nope. The pipe creates a temporary file that is then redirected
automatically to the next named binary that must be using stdin
and expecting input. The temp file is autmatically deleted. 

I forgot to try this in BL but I suspect the program doing the
stdout failed, not the redirect.

I think that requires 'glob' or something similar to give
'grep' global scope.

I think Steven D. had some of this in a FAQ file linked at his
website and I give links to highly recommended (to me) *nix
howtos at the BasicLinux webpage (bottom of page) at my website.

Always true for any OS. In Windows learning the various mouse
functions is similar. A basic 'tool' used continously
throughout the 'session'.
