I guess I don't want to argue with you on that point - it's John C who was
making inferences from Bush's speaking ability.

On Richard Mitchell's point, that I agree with, I would say that I'm not
talking about 100% correct spelling. Typos and momentary madness are
excused. Mitchell quotes some writing from a teacher who consistenly
misspelt a couple of words like "article". Many people could do
that sort of thing on a bad day, but if a native-English writer
consistently made similar mistakes, it would be fair to conclude that they
either had some internal miswiring, or were poor readers.
