I have MOZ_PLUGINS set, but it doesn't matter if I get rid of all copies
of nparos2 - FF then just says it needs a plugin - doesn't give me the
dialog for file disposition.

HOWEVER, I found the key. I eliminated nparos2.dll from the plugins
directory and went into
G:\mozhome\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\algb7hf1.default\mimeTypes.rdf

and removed this line:

and restarted FF. I then clicked on a PDF and got the window asking me
for the download - open with choice and set up aros2 as the helper. Now
all is cool (albeit without using it as a plugin).

All parts should go together without forcing. You must remember that the parts
you are reassembling were disassembled by you. Therefore, if you can't get them
together again, there must be a reason. By all means, do not use a hammer.
