I just bought a Nikon 4200. The camera works great for transfers.
It's the card reader that doesn't work for me. It works fine on
the 1 computer that uses a UHCI controller, but not on this
computer which has an OHCI controller. This is probably a driver
issue since this card reader is compatible with both types of
controllers. I have the latest drivers installed.

As for your camera, try booting with your card reader unplugged and
then plug in the camera. Is is recognized when the card reader is
removed? If so, maybe you need to increase the parameter in your
config.sys. The default is 1, I believe. Since you have a 6
banger, try setting the parameter to 7 (6+camera).
