It's pretty much the same concept, except that it is more object-oriented 
than VB.  It is also more powerful and more flexible... it doesn't have 
limits like VB.  And if you want to do graphics work, Delphi has classes that 
encapsulate the Windows API, making it a lot easier to work with.
Delphi comes with its own database, the Borland Database Engine (BDE).  You 
can
also use many 3rd party database engines.
