Hum. There is a chunk of Judaism (mostly orthodox) which holds that the
Jews broke their covenant with God which is why the Romans expelled them
& thus any attempt to re-establish Israel is actually heretical & anti-God.

The question has also be raised by some Jews to me as to whether israel
really makes Jews any "safer" given the fact that since 48 it's
been a near continuous state of war & death & that this has
attracted a whole new set of Jew hating (i.e. from the Arabs).

& that's by pure chance...gee I wonder who was really happy to see
Saddam "contain" the Islamic republic of Iran....by attacking
them...well...let's see who gave them cash, logistics etc to do
it...humm...saudi...kuwait....the UAE....& the US.
