It is my understanding that the termination of the contract between the
Missouri agency and the Colorado Center was because of the ACB affiliate
there. If this is true, then it is factually correct to "blame" it.
As I noted two weeks ago, ACB has attacked NFB in The Braille Forum
because of our position concerning tactile warnings on subway platforms.
The verbiage I have read has not been a reasoned refutation of our views,
or a careful analysis of the problems with the so-called "electronic
fence." Rather, it has been a snipe here and a jab there, filled with
emotion but void of thought. I also recall that, a couple of years ago,
it contained an article about the Dennis Groshel hassles with the Veterans
Adminstration. Though NFB was very much involved in that case, the
article failed to mention it once. Fortunately for readers, neither the
Monitor nor the Forum has spent a lot of its pages bashing the
organization that produces its rival product. Such bashing as there has
been, however, has by no means come predominantly from the Federation.
My own opinions are these. At its best, the Monitor is unbeatable, but
sometimes it's sure not at its best. I do not think the Forum, at its
best, is unbeatable.
Only one person's views!
