| subject: | Re: RSJ user questions |
Everyone,
Some success:
My CDWriter does not show me a control that would allow me to select
either the Yamaha CDRW or the LITE-ON DVDRW drive.
I did manage to get access to the news.rsj.de through the old NETSCAPE 4.6
communicator program. Though NETSCAPE is so unreliable that it abends too
often to be considered a viable access to the news.rsj.de groups. Anyone
know what settings I need to use to get PRONEWS to access these groups?
My basic attempts were unsuccessful.
But it was reliable enough for me to find a few news articles. They show
a '-d cdr:a.i' parm format that allows the command line to attach
assorted drives.
In my case, I was able to get '-d cdr:3.2' to attach my IDE based DVD
writer using the comand line cdattach program. (I have two SCSI cards in
my machine)
I've used my file systems to access that drive. Write data to it. And
then used the CDWriter Control to finalize the DVD.
Of course this isn't a full test, but its a start. I'll look at mounting
the disk again. Accessing the data. Adding another session or two. And
then I'll move to use the RW disks, and test those the same way.
I never have to format the CD-RW media. But what I have been reading
suggests that I need to format the DVD-RW disks before I can use them.
Can anyone confirm or deny this understanding?
Regards,
Mark
