 TE> In the sysop echoes, we have been encouraging people to use OPTUS for
 TE> local calls, by dialling 1456xx where xx is your local area code ie;
 TE> 03. Its a hassle doing so for each voice call, but is easy to add to
 TE> your comms program dialling directory prefix.

 RH> does this apply nation wide or only in some available areas ?

Dialling '1456' only applies to those areas that have already had their
ballot for default STD carrier, in areas serviced by Optus that have not
had their ballot you dial 1 , i.e. in STD area 044
to make a local call to my BBS using Optus, who started service here the
weekend after "That Bloody Sunday", you dial 1-044-729631. This gives you
an UNTIMED local call that is itemised on your Optus bill.
