There will be no grand fallout, Judy. The worse that could happen is that
the MoD will be accused of pushing Kelly into the position of being the
reporter Gilligan's source when they knew he wasn't.  In effect, that they
were attempting to cover up who the real source was when they knew who that
was. Big deal.

At that, the investigation itself will be a farce. It will be conducted by a law
lord, Sutton, who is necessarily also a member of Parliament and a known
conservative who always gives great deference to government prerogatives
and under the law, he will conduct his inquiry under any rules he chooses.

I suppose, from a smarmy public titillation  point of view, much will be made of
the charge that poor Kelly was driven to suicide by being put into a
difficult position by his superiors at the MoD. Many will weep copiously
over that supposition.

This whole farce was initiated by Blair himself. It is obvious he has set
this thing up to divert attention from himself and his foolish, misleading
and even lying statements about Iraq. And it is working.
