Tri-mode GSM handsets will become more common as AT&T and Cingualr
complete their GSM buildout. Right now they're a little higher in price,
but many of the carriers advertize these phones as
'world phones'. The roaming rates, however, are outrageous.
I had breifly given T-Mobile a trial when it was still known as Voicestream
with an Ericsson T28W.
Incredbily thin phone-with incredibly spotty service.
GSM's coverage in the US will probably be way behind CDMA for quite a
number of years to come. Look at the coverage maps for Verizon and T-Mobile
USA -it's no comparison.
