On the showroom floor, sure... The automakers put radio-only units in mosr
cars because they assume that the buyer will want a system personally
tailored. You can order anything, including AM/FM/Cass with CD changer, from
the factory...
...and I found that a CD-only add-in from Toyota to fit the opening under my
AM/FM was about $50 less than it cost me to refit the entire system with a
JVC 12-disk changer and AM/FM/Cass (w/changer control and remote) and two
extra speakers for the back... and I still have my little opening under the
radio for an extra pack of smokes and gas reciepts.
Even the salesdrones will tell you that you're better off buying the car with
a radio only and spending a few hundred on a system you like, rather than
spending a few hundred on a factory system that isn't that good, or a
thousand or more on a factory Bose system.
