RL> Ahh... so you're basically getting a special blend for the club. That
RL> explains the lack of problems.
Well, I don't know about the "special blend" although I know the owner
mixes our order in a new drum rather than pouring it out of a storage
tank. On two occasions, I have watched him do this. At the factory
they have a "master" tank of methanol/nitromethane (10%) and other "master"
tanks of all-synthetic, 50/50 synthetic/castor, and all-castor. It's
pretty easy for them to mix "on order". The owner is a modeler himself
and is a pretty nice fellow. He doesn't get to fly very much and he
can't build at all due to the volume of business. Red Max has been in
the fuel business about 20 years, most of the business is now hot fuel
dragsters and go-karts, with only about 25 % in model fuels.
RL> Ouch. I haven't flown in a little over a year, and haven't bought
RL> fuel in two years. What are the single gallon cans of PowerMaster 10%
RL> going for now?
Sounds like you have a priority problem, Rich (gr), in not flying in the
last year. Just be sure your stash of fuel is tightly capped to prevent
air (and moisture) getting into the cans. Methanol absorbs water from
the atmosphere very readily. I don't know about PM 10 %, since it is not
commonly seen in this area, but Omega, Sig, Red Max (all 10% nitro) are
all going at $12 - 14 per gallon at the local hobby store. C'mon, let's
go chase some birds. TTYL - Roger
