POINT 1:
I realize that. But at the same time observations indicate that a huge
portion of the universe is heading off in an unexpected direction,
throwing universal expansion theory out of wack.

Likely a last ditch effort to save a failing expansion theory, IMO. The
cosmological constant has been discarded as a number crunching method to
make theory match observation more closely. They're getting scared,
IOW.

The data that supports POINT 1: is older and still holds. Do you think
that I get nervous when the expansionists begin clawing for straws to
save a theory in trouble? Nah, I wait. ;)
