I also discovered the "mystery" editor a couple of years ago, and have
used it for my OLR and point system editor ever since!  It
multi-tasks quite nicely in a DOS window under Win95 on a 133 MHz
Pentium, BTW. I also use it for editing the Fidonet nodelist so I can
whittle it down to nodes I might need as a moderator for a couple of
echos. Like you, the only docs I've managed to find were in the F3 help
files.
One little tidbit you might find useful is that ED 3.1 also supports
the ALT-x macros, where x is any letter from A-Z.
