Maybe. Almost certainly in professional applications. I know of a
number of studios which will now supply rough mixes, etc to their
clients on CD if required.
I think the cassette will hang on for a while in the domestic
market - if only because of the almost universal availability of car
radio/cassette units. I mean, have you ever *tried* to buy a radio
only unit? I have, and it's nigh on impossible!
People like the simple technolgy required to make copies of their
favourite records for playing in the car.

Neither have I, to be honest. Certainly CD as an *archival* medium
is preferable to DAT - for day-to-day use, I'm not so certain which
way the market will move. It should be interesting to watch what
happens over the next couple of years. I think, if I had shares in
the DAT business, I'd be putting my money somewhere else .
