I am amazed that anything positive would come out of such a conference, but
this was amazingly positive.  The general mood in the Republican party is
knee-jerk opposition to government action, without much of an idea of
alternatives to be FOR.  Paul actually has some intellectual depth to his
views.  He has read Hayek, Mises, and Friedman, and he can give reasoned
arguments rather than just bumper-sticker slogans.

But he also has some very UNlibertarian views on reproductive rights, and
that probably worked to his benefit in the poll.
