Other here probably know better, but I've never heard of anyone having to do this. Did you try installing 98SE without doing this first, and had problems? Also, is your version of 98SE a "full" version, or an upgrade version? I've never had any problems installing Win98SE, but I think I always do the "clean" install, and have not tried installing it overtop of another version. I don't run GT Power BBS under it, though.
