The phones on the base start ringing, and don't stop. Irratated at
his inability to get a line out, Blanchard orders Lt. Haut to do
something. But there is nothing he can do about incomong calls.

Robert Shirkey, standing in the Operations building, watches as MPs
begin carrying wreckage from the debris field to load onto a C-54 from
the First Air Transport Unit. To see better, Shirkey has to step
arround Col. Blanchard.

2:30 PM.
Blanchard decides to go out to the site in person. Too many people
are calling the base. With a few staff members he drives out to the
debris field. Those left are told to say the Colonel is now on leave. (

The AP reports a "95", just under a bulletein in importance, that a
flying disc has been captured. ( Randle & Schmitt, 1994. Ibid.)
3:00 PM
Major Marcel is told he is going to Ft. Worth, along with some
wreckage. Only a few packages of wreckage are loaded onto his plane.
One triangular package, about 2 ft. long is wrapped in brown paper.
Three others are the size of shoe boxes. The special flight, a B-29,
takes of for Ft. Worth.

Calls are now coming into Roswell from all over the world, as the

Marcel is in Ramey's office with some of the debris. The general
asks to be shown where the debris was found. Marcel accompanies him to
the Map Room. Now satisfied, Ramey & Marcel walk back to the office. On
arrival, the origional debris sample(s) are gone. In its place is a
ripped-apart weather balloon with pieces scattered on the floor. Marcel

At 3:53PM. Gen. Ramey announces the flying disc has been sent to
Wright Field. ( Randle & Schmitt, 1994. Ibid.)

More men arrive on the debris field & are assigned with cleaning it.
Soldiers with wheelbarrows move across the field, tossing in debris.
When these are filled, they are taken to collection points. The
wreckage is then loaded into covered trucks to be driven into Roswell.
