 Neither have I. I have installed Win98Se over Win95 several times with
NO prolbems. Wel lone one where someone used the Policy Editor to set up
three levels of Users with various privedledges it did give the Lowest
level some extra provedledges. But other then that it was smooth
sailing. 
Also I have never heard of renaming Win.exe. I do rembember a trick that
was used to get Win95 Upgrade to install on a Bare drive by creating a
FAKE win.exe file.
