subject: Re: Limbaugh Addiction Speech

From: Randall Parker

You are just adding more rhetorical flourish to the idea that he is against
illegal drug use. So he railed against illegal drug use and for strong
enforcement. I already understand this and expected this of him even though
I've never heard him go on about the subject.

As for his breaking laws: if so then have him be prosecuted.

But this is besides the point: should a person not take a position strongly
for the criminalization of some forms of drug use just because the person
has a drug addiction? Is it hypocrisy to be against something that you do
yourself? He could sincerely believe what he says and still abuse drugs. I
just looked up the word "hypocrite" and it only applies if you
don't really believe what you profess to believe. My guess is that he
sincerely believes it but started taking pain killers for some pain and got
hooked. It happens to a lot of people who sincerely oppose recreational
drug use.

BTW, are you sure he bought the drugs off the street? I know one abuser who
assures me that she gets her vicodin legally. It is probably fairly easy to
do depending on which doctors one is seeing.
