| subject: | Refilling Laser Toner |
Greetings to ALL. I just wanted to share about my latest cost-cutting project. Toner cartridge on my little HP LaserJet 4L finally ran dry a few weeks back. I figured it wouldn't cost much to get a refilled cartridge. I called some of the local refillers and got 3 different prices, ranging from $51 to $59. New ones at Office Depot and such were, of course more - - all of these options were 2 to 3 times as much as I paid for the whole printer. I wasn't pleased. I checked at Ebay, searching for a bargain, and ended up buying a do-it-yourself toner refill kit - - just a little plastic jug of dry toner. Whole thing was $8, plus shipping and insurance. All I had to do was take a utility knife and cut a small hole in top of the cartridge, then carefully pour the dry toner in there thru a small funnel. Then, tape over the hole when finished. Just took a few minutes. Viola - it worked like a charm. Prints like a new one now. With the shipping and all, cost less than $15. I like it. - - - JimH. ... So easy, a child could do it. Child sold separately. --- MultiMail/MS-DOS v0.32* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/1 379/1 633/267 |
