because i didn't/don't know the answer... i've never attempted to select a
character set before writing a message in golded... i've only attempted to
change the character set to READ messages... every editor/BBS that i've used
has put CP437, IBMPC, or UTF-8 without my knowledge or prompting... 99% of the
people in FTNs operate the same way, too... they expect the software to put in
the proper CHRS line *IF* they even know about it...
