yo bruce, very intersting points you've raised. first, yep it is the right congference, the only other one i'm aware of is the local finance conference on the melbourne pcug, which btw is the best bbs i've come across in the country...to software issues et al. you will probably find that most who respond to your points will being using the following. almax from melbourne to download end of day share market data, the package microstock includes a not too bad win software package which distributes the custom downloaded data into your metastock files. next most people seem to use the following packages to view the data. supercharts - quite popular but too yankee in concept, the latest version 3 is ok and has some useful analysis tools, but a word of warning, i got a floating point error twice the other day doing a simple macd chart scan of the asx. and no i'm not using a pentium 90, it's a late model 100, so the prob lies with sc 3. i think by far the more useful program for share owners is parity plus version 1-5. it is us made but international in its applicability. i would recommend it any day over sc. it also allows you to do sophisticated data management the likes of which can only been foundon almax's custom software. for your own personal finances/tax issues i recommend quicken BUT if you've not used quicken before and are a win95 user forget it and go for money for windows 95 it is simply superb, if you download it from the msn before cob 1/11/95 it's free except for 26 mins download time (a few dollars max) you can get the cd rom form ms for $15 upgrade or $25+ full version. i have recently downloaded a prog recommended by an adelaide user of this conf called stable technical garphs version 2-2, you can find the internet address by reading earlier messages on this conf or ask me and i'll upload it to a central (sydney or melb bbs). ther is also an expensive program $1300+ called trade statio which i don't anything about except where you can get it. actually i've been mulling over whether to check it out or not since sc 3 has turned out to be such an absolute DOG. hope this ramble has been of some help, if you need anything clarified just ask...regards --- PCBoard (R) v15.21/10* Origin: Erskineville, NSW (3:712/411) SEEN-BY: 50/99 620/243 623/630 624/300 711/401 406 409 413 430 807 808 809 SEEN-BY: 711/899 934 712/401 407 411 505 506 515 517 615 616 619 704 816 847 SEEN-BY: 713/888 714/906 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 712/411 505 704 515 711/808 809 934 |
