| subject: | Db2/2 |
Hi David, -=> On 28 Feb 97 21:28:00 David Noon said to Andrew Grillet <=- DN> I don't need front ends; I currently use DB2/2. AG>I'd like to hear an informed comparison. DN> Comparison with what? DB2/2 is all I have under OS/2. I think it was in the Context of DB/2 vs Oracle, but I forgot. I am like4ly to be in a position where I could port our single-user dBase 4/5 based system to client/server on DB2 or Oracle. I am seeking background data on this. DN> I shall assume you are [at least vaguely] familiar with DB2 under MVS Nope - never seen it. When I used mainframes it was either CDC under one or other of their systems or ICL under maximop, George2 or George3. DN> The DBMS is fairly easy to install, I did this with a demo system, but I could not find out how to draw text-mode screens for data capture (order entry etc). And I could not understand a lot of the DOCs despite ten years Database experience due to IBM Speak. I really need Text mode data entry screens on DOS machines as clients. I can't face retraining staff on new screen formats just now. Andrew ...
