Then your file names will be restricted to 31 characters. OS2 basics.

You are making it far to complicated. Just use write once media in the 
camera and use them as back up.

If you want a second back up, compress (zip) the image files into a zip 
file and write the zip file to CD.

Use re-writables only for educational purposes!
