You and Jim, are you sure that it was a converted truck?
There are manufacturers here that build specific brandnew
4x4 RVs (mainly on Unimog chassis) for rugged terrain exotic
camping tours (Sahara crossings and such) in small numbers
for wealthy idiots (many $$$) that look very similar to
army trucks.
Anyway, I've been in Big Bend with one of those common RVs,
beautiful paved highways there :-)
