On 02-28-98, MICHAEL MCSORLEY declared to ROBERT PLETT:
MM> RP> Having read the Book, I'm not at all worried the scenario that you
MM> RP> fear will occur, but the one that will occur won't be avoided either.
MM> RP> Delayed perhaps, but not avoided. |-)
MM>Which scenario is this that may be delayed? The one where the mid-eastern
MM>countries become a parking lot? ;-) Or is it the smoking thing... X-I
That complex scenario that includes, among many other things, that most
often terribly mischaracterized, misunderstood, and overblown, great
battle that will take place southwest of Nazareth on the Plain of
Esdraelon and Valley of Jezreel, overlooked by Mount Meggido from which
name of the battle is derived: Armaggedon. I was speaking of the
scenario described in Revelation.
MM> RP> This much, however, is certain to me: The delusional little Saddam,
MM> RP> who imagines himself to be Nebuchadnezzar, is *not* the greatest
MM> RP> danger.
MM>Remember the old Hershey's Kisses ads, "big things come in small
ackages"?
MM>I just don't want to underestimate the volatility of the situation over
MM>there...
MM>Please identify this Nebchadnezzar person for me; I'm a bit
MM>historically-impaired... :-)
Nebuchadnezzar was the great king of Babylon who built the famed Hanging
Gardens, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. It was he who
invaded Judah and took its elite into Babylonian capitivity that lasted
70 years. Included among those captives were the prophet Daniel and his
friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, of Fiery Furnace fame.
Babylon is located in Iraq, about 50 miles south of Baghdad, and has
been under reconstruction at Saddam's direction for many years. Saddam
has long imagined himself to be Nebuchadnezzar reincarnate, openly so,
commissioning paintings and posters of himself depicted as such to
promote the idea to the Iraqi populace and the rest of the Middle East
world.
