I hope that it's appropriate too. For someone who is NOT an abuse
victim; riding the current wave of activism on behalf of legitimate
victims  for
the sake of destroying someone's character - or merely for selfish and
greedy purposes  is,
IMHO, a 'slap'  at those who have suffered from abuse.
Unfortunately..there seems to be a "guilty until proven innocent" mood
pervading our society. Rare or not: when an innocent parent, spouse,
significant other, etc.. is persecuted  for an abuse
claim, the damage done (whether social, financial, emotional or
otherwise) is often devastating. I've just come through a divorce
(almost final) proceeding where this has been the situation.
It's reminiscent of the story of the kid that cried "wolf". I suppose
that for every system of victim assistance that's designed; there'll be
those who rush - entitled or not - to join-up. When the wanna-bees
challenge the truly-needy for benefits, it's sick.
