Hi Andrew,

I was subscribed to BYTE from shortly after it was introduced until the
early 1990s and used to look enviously at advertisements for the
solid-state disks (ditto the large Pinnacle-Reo MO drives!), once they
were introduced, so I was well aware of their existence - noted some
recently that were 90GB capacity!
None of them however were incorporated into a conventional hard-disk
though - like a larger, slooooower on-disk-cache, though the quoted size
of 128MB seems terribly small, especially for the Longhorn behemoth!

I am very disappointed with the access speeds of my 512MB USB2.0
PendrivePro Flash drive, especially the write speed! Tried FAT and HPFS
[terrible] and finally settled on JFS.
