gee, did i possibly just say BOOT INFECTORS? they infect the bootsectors
of floppy disks and usually the mbr of hard disks... thats why they
aren't file system dependant, the infect articles outside of the file
system before the operating system gets a chance to load...
but your right about one thing, there is a tendancy for them not to
spread after linux has loaded, but it's due to the fact that linux runs
in protected mode...
spreading isn't the problem though, the fact that they get there in the
first place is... i'd hate to think of what monkey or one_half would do
to a linux-pc platform... (gee, where'd that partition table go, how
come i'm getting file system errors, etc)..
