Replying to a message from Jon Watson 1:134/703 to PETER COGGON, About Re: Canada's National Ele, On Fri Jun 25 2004 PC> I heard on the radio today, that the Governor General if there PC> is no clear winner, will have to ask one of the partys to form PC> a coalition government. JW> Jeepers, is that even legal? Rest assured though, it's certainly not Very legal indeed in our political system, in this case the onus would be on the Governor General to call on the incumbent leader (in this case Paul Martin) to form a coalition government with whom eve he chose, in all likelihood the New Democrats to form a Government, and hope the hell the coalition is strong enough to weather any and all storms till the next election call. JW> likely. I'm not sure what 'no-clear winner' means, but there has to JW> be a winner. I mean, even George W managed to get elected legally in JW> a quagmire of misinformation and spoiled ballots. Remember this Jeb Bush said he would deliver Florida to his brother he succeeded, did he not? Hope this helps. Keep us posted. We are a fine board trying to make it better. http://www.pris.bc.ca/ghannah ghannah{at}pris.bc.ca Cheers!
