Putting "/" in the directory name could have done anything. That
is not a valid character to use in a directory name, and in some
circumstances has the same meaning as "\".

This is a worry. I checked my logs and everything was fine except
that you didn't ACK the hello structure (or ask for it a few times).
The only thing I can think of is that it might be getting confused
by the binary data stream. Try going into Telix and Alt-O and see
if "use xon/xoff" is set to yes. Try setting it to "no" instead.
