I have a book called "the internet bible", M. Tischer and B.
Jennrich, published by Data Becker. That's in german, but I would be very
surprized if it hadn't been translated to english. That should give you
some foundations for anything related to the internet.
Then of course, you can look up the relevant RFC for NTTP and TCP/IP (they
are included on the cdrom which comes with the book too).
