subject: Re: [OS2HW] BIOS AGP settings

Hi
Just thought I'd mention that many bioses have a keystroke combo that
will enact one of the bios default settings somewhat analagous to
"safe mode". This is quicker than removing the battery for
several seconds or shorting the "clear cmos" jumpers. Many Asus
boards have an automatic switch that upon some unknown to me condition (
time?post level?) returns to a default "safe mode" allowing you
to try again. I don't know why manufacturers seem to hide that keystroke
combo but they do and it is worth finding.

Bios guides are very useful but the only way to be certain on many
settings is to benchmark. It can be tedious but very rewarding. I really
miss Clear & Simple's benchmark that was divided into 4 areas allowing
one to use the config that was either the most balanced or the most
weighted toward how you use that box. Alas, it has slipped below the
threshold of most modern hardware and they don't work in OS/2 anymore.
They also BTW made one of the best filemanagers for OS/2 IMHO which I still
use, Disk Jockey.
