The computer being next to the bed it's a bit noisy with the drive and three fans running, one on the CPU, one blowing _in_ on the front of the case and one blowing out on the rear. Got the CD-ROM recognized last night, it's on the second physical master IDE channel. Now I need to see if SoundBlasters software setup utility allows one to setup IRQ 15 as the IRQ within that software. I'm putting back the PCI modem as it does no harm not being seen at all. I'm also putting back the 14400 voice modem leaving me 1 PCI slot open, two if I remove the currently useless PCI soundcard though I've not ID'd that card yet let alone gone looking for drivers for Win 3.1 for it should such be available. Being a fairly old machine it's possible they may exist. PCI Sound card and modem will have to wait until will have to wait for the new drive come next month and possible purchase of Win 98 if the price is low enough. Linux having a driver for the modem has no problem there. Trying to get the ISA sound card in today as it may work with existing installed software. Also need to FTP the GUI software for the PCI soft modem in case I do manage to install the copy of Win 95 I've here but that depends on weather it recognizes a CD-ROM drive made well after it's release. May get little to nothing done today except move the old box creating space to work and allowing me to retrieve the modem and sound cards as the tower currently sits atop the 486 case. Hit the wall yesterday again as much of the work getting this system up required sitting which the spine does not like. Feeling pretty bad today. --- MultiMail/PBellDOS v0.42* Origin: FidoTel & QWK on the Web! www.fidotel.com (1:275/311) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 275/311 10/345 379/1 633/267 |
