JS> Do you know how this works? I think, the USR Sportster hasn't a
FlashRom..
The Sportster will need a new chip.
JS> So, is it possible, that Supra modems can be easily upgraded by a flash
JS> rom to this new standard.
Who's to say USR will license X2 technology to Supra or anyone else for that
matter? More than likely Rockwell or ITU will come out with their own
similar protocol that will dwarf USR's X2.
JS> Does anyone has information how it excatly works and how Fido-BBS-System
JS> can use this standard and not only internet-users at home.
You would need to have digital lines from your system to the phone company,
just like the internet providers will need.
It is only a 'standard' as far as USR is concerned; we all know what happened
to HST.
