  Heh :) I've already seen COBOL... and it isn't all that bad! 

  So, what are you saying, that these are actually (relatively) NEW
  languages?! Now I'm TOTALLY confused... didn't someone mention that
  they were used on mainframes or something like that?

 You see, I know NOTHING about PL/I or APL, and infact I never even
 heard of them outside of this echo. And since I see people in this echo
 that I respect for their knowledge use them, I would like to learn more
 about them myself. The best languages I've EVER seen are (so far)
 Common LISP and Object REXX (and maybe Java, but not very likely - I'm
 still learning it and don't know it all that well to decide).I use
 C/C++ only when performance is a must (although C++ isn't all that
 performant in my limited experience).

 I have this notion (more of a feeling actually) that C is most suited
 for fast performance on todays hardware, but I can't be sure. Feel free
 to prove me wrong.
